For once, procrastinating really does pay off!

Weekend Freebies

One benefit from the current economy has been the noticeable increase in coupons luring you to shop or eat out! Borders has an abundance of coupons this weekend, expiring on Monday, the 28th. Scroll down to the bottom of the bunch for a Seattle's Best coffee coupon. Love my coffee (if you haven't yet noticed!)!

Feel like making a batch of Nestle Toll House chocolate chip cookies? It's back on the market after a recall months ago. Here's a link to download a $1 off coupon for purchasing the refrigerated cookie dough.

When you order the Kashi cereal sample mentioned in my blog posting on Tuesday, they'll also include a coupon for $2 off your next purchase. That's a great deal.

Sign up on Starbucks to receive a free drink on your birthday.

More to come......

TGIFF!! (Thank Goodness It's Freebie Friday): Coffee or Pastry, and a Magazine

Who doesn't love Friday? Even though as a college student you may be spending a good portion of your weekend studying, there is always time for a coffee break. For a change of scenery, grab your books and head over to your local Borders to enjoy a complimentary pastry or beverage with the purchase of a Seattle's Best beverage. Print the coupon and check the store locator for cafe locations. You can sign up for additional special offers on their website.

Interested in a free subscription to Elle Magazine? Hey, why not?!

The Godiva chocolate freebies continue this weekend. Check last Friday's blog for details.

Now that the peanut butter recall is including over 1,100 products, remember to check the FDA site for updates. New products continue to be added daily.

Catch up on your sleep and make it a great weekend!

Textbooks and more

It is more than likely that time in the semester when you have already registered, or will soon be registering, for classes. Those $100 and higher textbooks are a reality. However, a little ingenuity will help you monitor those steep costs. .

Consider registering for free with Borders Rewards to receive a variety of (nearly weekly) specials throughout the year. For example, while it expires today, a recent email includes a coupon (for members) for 30% off any purchase of $10 or more, online or in the store. Do not despair, inevitably there will soon be another email with an additional book discount available. For more information regarding the benefits of joining, read the program benefits and facts. In the meantime, find out the titles and ISBN numbers for your textbooks, and this may be just one of many ways to begin cutting your costs.

In addition, if you are beginning to plan for the holidays, today's email provided a coupon (for members) for 40% off all Cd's (limit 3).

Barnes and Noble offers a similar membership card, however, they charge a $25 yearly membership fee. Given that many university bookstores are owned and operated by Barnes and Noble, this may be an option worth considering.

Also, begin to ask around at school to see who may have already taken the class you're intending to take. They may be willing to sell or lend it to you.

I'll cover a number of additional ways to save on textbooks in future posts. Stay tuned!
