Holiday Steals and Deals

OMG....have I got deals for you!

Megabus.com is offering 100,000 free seats (that’s right FREE!!) on bus rides between January 6, 2010 and March 16, 2010. And we thought the $1 fare was a steal. However, I have to say that it may be tough to get on their site. Get moving on this one. More info is available on Facebook.

The Limited is offering a coupon good for $15 off your purchases, through December 13th. Other savings are mentioned on the coupon, too.

Borders is offering 30% off one item through December 14th.

Become a fan of Stacy’s Pita Chips on Facebook and receive a coupon for a free bag (a $3.99 value).

Get a free coupon worth $5 on your total purchase at Hallmark through December 24th.

Check out FreeShipping.org for codes entitling you to free shipping on many sites. According to the site, “Free Shipping Day: Calling all procrastinators. The second annual Free Shipping Day is December 17, 2009. Over 500 merchants are expected to offer free shipping with delivery by Christmas Eve.”
For once, procrastinating really does pay off!

How about some Alouette free brie until December 31st?

Receive a free sample of Special K cereal.

Check out Smart Money’s suggestions for 3 ways to get gift cards for less than face value.

Amazon is offering 25 days of free holiday music downloads. There appear to be additional free MP3 downloads on Amazon, as well.

Restaurant.com is offering their second annual Feed It Forward event providing free $10 gift certificates ($30million worth!). These can be emailed to friends, family and even yourself! You can’t beat it. Any college student or grad will love this one! Make their day! An application is also available on Facebook.

So many great deals to help with your holiday budget!

The Job Search Continues (and a Friday Freebie)

Hunting for a job is nearly a fulltime job in itself. It is difficult to know where to begin, and once you have been searching for a long time, keeping the process fresh and staying motivated can be challenging. It may be time to step out of your comfort zone and try something new, particularly if your usual method hasn't yet helped you to expand your list of contacts or propel you towards an interview. These are tough times, and a little ingenuity can go a long way in differentiating you from other candidates.

The newspapers, magazines, and Internet are inundated with career tips and expertise. For a fresh perspective, check out Lindsey Pollak, "a bestselling author, speaker and consultant specializing in Generation Y career and workplace issues." Ms. Pollak writes a career blog (which you can subscribe to) and has written 2 books worth reading: Getting from College to Career: 90 Things to Do Before You Join the Real World and another, co-authored with Diane K. Danielson entitled The Savvy Gal's Guide to Online Networking (Or, What Would Jane Austen Do?). Amazon sells these books both new and used (to save you money).

By the way, Ms. Pollak recommends that you link to her on LinkedIn. What do you have to lose? Give it a try.

A freebie for your Friday: Next Thursday, April 30th, from 3 - 7 p.m., head over to Carvel for a free Iceberg (soda and ice cream).
