A Website Sure to Help You Negotiate Your Way In and Around Many Cities

We just returned from a wonderful weekend spent in New York City. While there, I overheard a conversation about a website sure to benefit any city traveler. While not a new site, it's the first that I'm hearing about it. The site is called HopStop.com. It provides directions on public transportation in many major cities; this includes subways, buses, taxis, ferries, etc. It considers the time of day that you are traveling and offers alternate routes, also estimating the length of travel time. And, if you choose to walk (our personal favorite!), it also suggests the best route. There are many additional features on the website, but certainly the option to text the directions will come in very handy, for any traveler or local, on the go. Currently the site covers New York, Boston, London, Paris, Washington DC, Chicago, San Francisco, Long Island, New Jersey and Metro North. Follow HopStop on Twitter for all the latest news. And, be sure to share this blog posting with all your traveling friends.

As an aside, last week my son's friend was visiting from Maryland. When he was leaving, we sent him by train to NYC to catch a bus back to Maryland. (Like any good Mom,) I manually provided as much information as possible to guide him through NYC, particularly since he was not familiar with the city. This site would have provided me with all the details, and instead of printing, he would have had access to it right on his cell phone. How perfect!
